Southern Cast Products was started in 1976 by David Kroeter, who was exposed to foundry operations his entire life.  His father was a patternmaker who operated out of St. Louis, Missouri and inspired David to follow in his footsteps.  Both of them had wanted to venture into the foundry business for the experience, but they were unsure of a location to start the company.

One of their customers, located in Jonesboro, AR, urged the Kroeters to move closer to their location to reduce shipping costs and they agreed.  The original intent of the company was to create pattern castings, but the market was very limited, so Southern Cast Products evolved into a jobbing business.  The first several years were difficult due to initial capital costs until a company called FMC contracted the company.

Then, in 1981, a new pattern shop was constructed to increase revenue and so the Kroeters could return to their roots.  This shop made patterns for customers in many states, including Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and Mississippi.  In the early 1990s, the decision was made to unionize the company under an NLRB vote.  In 1998, Doug Imrie bought the company and continued to improve upon the foundry with the addition of a machine shop and aluminum casting.  The machine shop started machining in 1999 and now Southern Cast Products is one stop for machined iron and aluminum castings
